The Feast of Saint Barbara will be celebrated in the Iron Ore Region next Sunday, 4 December. Just in time for this day, her statue, exhibited in our mine Walert, has returned from the restoration. The restorer Laura Di Mola has again prepared the statue so that it will please our visitors and will also be preserved for the future.
“European Route of Industrial Heritage”(ERIH) on visit
21.10.2022Dans le cadre de la "Route européenne du patrimoine industriel" (ERIH), notre musée minier est le « Anchorpoint » du Luxembourg. Récemment, un groupe d’environ 50 visiteurs de toute l’Europe était présent pour un « Welcome and Get Together » dans notre mine. L’équipe de « l’Office Régional de Tourisme SUD » a organisé et dirigé l’événement avec le renfort de nos équipes de bénévoles et de collaborateurs.
Locomotive from the years 1915-25
17.08.2022In a side gallery of the main tunnel Walert you can see a red electric locomotive from the years 1912-1925. It was built by the German company AEG. With two electric motors it has a weight of 18 tons and 61 HP. The locomotive was used in French ARBED tunnels such as the Montrouge tunnel and is part of our collection in 1998.
Three components of a visit to the MNM
5.08.2022A visit to the MNM consists of: an exhibition at the reception + 3.8 km mine train + a guided tour 80m underground. From Tuesday to Sunday the starting times are: 14:30, 15:30 and 16:30
Project of 360° movie
2.08.2022Recently a group of the project Fanthomes was in our tunnel. Some shots were made for a 360° movie for Spektrum.lu about myths, legends and folklore from the region of Rumelange. Children and people from the surrounding area made among other things the costumes.
Two locomotives soon almost like new
26.07.2022Les deux locomotives électriques articulées à l’entrée de la route près de la Cimalux à Rumelange sont actuellement remises en état par une équipe du CIGL Rumelange. Un grand merci pour cela.
The heaviest maschine of our exhibition
6.07.2022De 1957 à 1997, l’ARBED a utilisé cette locomotive électrique à bogies dans les galeries françaises. Il s’agit avec ses 44 tonnes de la machine la plus lourde de notre musée. Elle a été construite par la société Jeumont (F) en 1957. La locomotive est équipée de quatre moteurs électriques de 153ch chacun et a été utilisés dans les mines Burbach et Audun. Depuis l’an 2000, elle fait partie de notre exposition souterraine.

Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and his wife at the MNM
17.02.2022After Grand Duke Jean attended the opening in 1973, Hereditary Grand Duke, Prince Guillaume, accompanied by his wife, Princess Stéphanie, visited the National Mining Museum Rumelange on 11.02.2022. Also present were Minister of Tourism, Lex Delles, Mayor and MNM President, Henri Haine as well as the members of the aldermanic and municipal council. A big Thank you for M. The MNM is open
7.02.2022Our museum is open again for you. From Tuesday to Sunday, you can take part in a sightseeing tour in our underground tunnel without booking. Departures: 14:30, 15:30 and 16:30. Rates: adults 9€, students 7€ and children 5€ We look forward to your visit.
